Brace your bonsai, winter is there!

Let me introduce you to my bonsai! I’m sure he’d be pleased to meet you. My bonsai, end of 2013, ready for winter

He’s a Japanese white pine (Mädchenkiefer in German), and I adopted him in March 2012 when he was just a sapling from a tree nursery.

The photo is from the beginning of December, just after I wrapped his pot in bast fiber in order to protect him from the cold (he needs to stay outside all year).

If you take a closer look, you can see that his branches are freshly wired and brought in shape from the last time we were at our bonsai school in mid-November. Everything prepared for a good development next year!

Oh, and don’t tell him, but he might get a companion next spring. ;)

Remarks? Additions? Corrections? For anything you want to tell me about this blog post, feel free to send me an email[*].
Despite having no comments section (isn't that easy with a static site generator and without relying on a proprietary 3rd party service), I greatly appreciate direct feedback. 😉 In case of additions, I'll mention the name from the mail if you don't object.
